Performance indicators and reports

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) / Measures and Reports for the Sales and Marketing Department

Consists of: 1. Sales (Total Sales) 2. Discount (Total Discount) 3. Unit Price (Total Unit Price) 4. Marketing Expense (Total Marketing Expense) 5. Sales Expense (Total Sales Expense) 6. Quantity (Quantity) 7. Returned Goods (Total Returned Goods) 8. Free of Charge (Free of Charge Items), both calculated based on quantity and monetary value

1. $ Sales (Total sales)

This measure/KPI can measure the organization's performance. When creating a report, it should include comparisons of sales figures from different years and months to highlight differences, such as sales this month compared to last month, or sales this year compared to last year. Otherwise, there will be nothing to compare them to. Furthermore, if the organization sells multiple products, it's important to analyze the sales performance of each product to identify which ones are selling well and which are not, month by month

2. $ Discount

These measures can be expressed as a percentage of sales and compared to the previous month or year to see how much of a discount we're offering. If our organization already has a policy against discounts exceeding 15%, we can then track whether employees are complying with organizational policies

3. Unit Price (Price per unit)

4. Marketing Expenses

Having marketing expenditure figures allows marketing managers to track the ratio of marketing expenses to sales and enables them to formulate policies to reduce marketing costs, especially when they identify trends of increasing marketing expenses year after year

5. $ Sales Expense

Having sales expense figures allows sales team managers to compare the ratio of sales expenses to sales revenue and use this information to set policies, similar to what marketing managers do

6. # QTY Sales volume

Some organizations may not consider sales volume, focusing only on sales figures. However, others may analyze both sales volume and sales figures together. Therefore, this measure is also necessary

7. # GR Goods Return - Returned Goods

It can be used to analyze the quality of our products, compare data over different time periods, and identify the root causes of substandard products in order to find solutions

8. # FOC Free of Charge $ FOC Free Gift Item

Some organizations offer free gifts with purchases, such as a "buy one get one free" deal. The amount on the receipt should be zero. Therefore, you might see the value of the free gift or discount added to the purchase price beforehand, and then subtracted from the total amount later to record the value and inform the customer how much they received

Note: The symbol $ represents value and # represents quantity.

I'll introduce other KPIs next time
