🚨 The same old problems keep recurring? You order a fix, but it just comes back? Stop solving problems out of habit and adopt the Six Sigma process to reduce errors and achieve perfection 🎯
In many organizations, when errors occur in the work process, we often see the same pattern: the boss calls a meeting, reprimands the team, instructs them to be more careful, and then everyone goes back to work… But after a few weeks, the same problem recurs, causing damage again!
That's because we're "solving problems based on feelings and habits," not by fixing the systemic structure.
Six Sigma is not just a theoretical concept, but a world-class statistical methodology focused on eliminating variation in work processes, aiming for a standard target of "no more than 3.4 defects or errors per 1 million operations or production runs (99.99966% Defect-Free)."
Prevention
- Stop using feelings to solve problems: Record every mistake quantitatively and don't overlook small issues.
- Create a No-Blame Culture: Focus on "how the system works so people can't do wrong" (Poka-Yoke) instead of chasing after culprits.
5 Steps of DMAIC
D – Define (Clearly identify the problem): Identify the problem that affects the quality that customers require (Critical to Quality: CTQ), such as 8% of all orders having a delivery delay of more than 24 hours.
M – Measure (Measure actual data): Gather on-site data to identify where and when delays occur. Record the figures as statistics.
A – Analyze the root cause: Use a fishbone diagram in conjunction with the 5 Whys principle to delve deep into whether the source of the slowness stems from people, tools, materials, or processes.
I – Improve (Implement system improvements): Design solutions that address the root cause, and test them on a small scale to measure whether the error rate actually decreases.
C – Control (Ensuring adherence to new standards): Rewrite standard operating procedures (SOPs) and implement a real-time monitoring dashboard to prevent processes from reverting to old patterns.
Professionalism isn't measured by how good you are at firefighting, but by how well you create systems to prevent fires. Implementing DMAIC can transform organizations, enabling them to operate to higher standards and significantly reduce waste
